The Organisation
The IRO is an independent statutory office established under the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020. Samantha Taylor PSM is the Independent Review Officer. The Officer is supported by an expert team.
The statutory functions of the IRO include to:
find solutions for persons injured at work or in motor vehicle accidents with complaints about their insurers;
manage and administer the Independent Legal Assistance and Review Service (ILARS);
conduct inquiries into matters arising in connection with the operation of the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020 and the workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident legislation.

About the Role
The Senior Business Performance Analyst supports the Independent Review Office (IRO) by delivering both advanced business analysis and hands-on technical data capability to enable evidence-based decision making and improved organisational performance.
This role combines deep analytical expertise with strong technical execution. You will operate as a senior analyst with technical depth, responsible for designing, building and maintaining data pipelines, curated datasets and reporting solutions across IRO’s cloud analytics platform (Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI).
Beyond traditional reporting, the role requires active involvement across ETL processes, data warehouse design and dashboard development, ensuring that data is accurate, reliable and scalable to support both operational and strategic insights.
You will play a key role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical delivery, translating complex data into meaningful and actionable outcomes.
Working within a small, high-performing Digital and Data team, you will wear multiple hats across data engineering, analytics and performance reporting. This role is suited to a pragmatic, outcome-driven individual who is comfortable working across the full data lifecycle and contributing broadly to the organisation’s data and analytics capability.
Key Accountabilities
Design, develop and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines and data integration processes across Databricks and Snowflake
Develop, optimise and maintain data warehouse structures, curated datasets and semantic models for reporting and analytics
Build, administer and enhance Power BI datasets, dashboards and reports, ensuring performance optimisation and usabilityAnalyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and performance insights, and provide clear, actionable recommendations to support decision making
Develop and maintain reporting frameworks, KPIs and performance metrics to support organisational and operational outcomesContribute to the continuous improvement of data architecture, reporting frameworks and business performance monitoring approaches
Ensure data quality through validation, reconciliation and monitoring processes across data pipelines
Translate complex technical data concepts into clear, plain language insights for business stakeholders
Work closely with stakeholders to define reporting requirements and deliver scalable, reusable and fit-for-purpose data solutions
Operate across multiple disciplines within a small team environment, contributing to data engineering, analytics, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
Essential Experience
Strong experience in SQL development, including complex queries and performance optimisation
Proven experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines in cloud platforms (Databricks, Snowflake or similar)
Demonstrated experience working with data warehouses, including data modelling, transformation and optimisation
