Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are seeking a highly capable and detail orientated ICT Senior Business Analyst to support a critical system replacement initiative within our organisation. ABIS (Automated Biometric Information System) is key piece of technology that Police relies on for collection, comparing, and managing fingerprint and other biometric identifiers.

As part of this role the business analyst will liaise with necessary stakeholders to elicit their requirements as well as reviewing existing system documentation to capture current state and non-functional requirements for use in the RFP (Request for Proposal) process. The ability to liaise with stakeholder from various areas and quickly elicit their requirements will be important in ensuring the timely delivery of this work. Previous exposure to undertaking an RFP process would be preferred, as would any previous exposure to NZ Police systems. However, most importantly is your ability to elicit and capture detailed business and technical system requirements. This role will be pivotal in ensuring that our future state system will meet necessary business and system requirements for NZ Police heading forward.

You are an experienced ICT Senior Business Analyst that has worked in complex ICT system projects previously. You have a keen eye for details and ability to capture and document requirements clearly and in a timely manner.

Your ability to assimilate quickly within a project and driving timely results comes naturally to you, as is your ability to work collaborative or independently to get your work completed. Ideally you will have had some exposure to undertaking a systems replacements project previously involving an RFP process, as well as a good understanding of sensitive and bio metric data and appropriate handling of that. You can work at both a holistic and details level to allow you to get an overview of things quickly then drill into the details or ask the appropriate question. Previous experience and understanding of NZ Police ICT systems would be beneficial but not essential.

He aha taau e kawe mai | What you’ll bring

Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others.

Key Accountabilities:
Draft, confirm and finalise system and non-functional requirement for capture in RFP documentation.
Identify and engage with stakeholders in such areas as, architecture, and privacy, security, and data governance to ensue all business requirements are captured for use in RFP.
Working in conjunction with procurement specialist to ensure progression of RFP process – drafting, facilitating review process, tracking responses, and finalising document.
Ensure traceability of requirements and alignment with strategic and operational goals.
Maintaining effective documentation and communication across the stakeholders during the completion of this work.

This role is Individual Contributor/Emerging Leader level. You can refer to Indicators for Success for further information on the requirements
