Senior Automotive Systems Engineer
Job Description
Our client, a renowned automotive manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Systems Engineer to join their advanced engineering team in Mumbai, Maharashtra, IN . This role is pivotal in the design, development, integration, and testing of complex automotive systems, including powertrain, chassis, electrical, and safety systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in systems engineering principles, a deep understanding of automotive technologies, and proven experience in managing the entire lifecycle of an automotive system. You will lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with suppliers, and ensure that our vehicles meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability. This position requires excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and integration of automotive systems from concept to production. Define system requirements, architecture, and specifications based on vehicle-level objectives. Develop and execute comprehensive testing and validation plans for automotive systems. Utilize systems engineering methodologies (e.g., Model-Based Systems Engineering - MBSE) to manage complexity. Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration. Manage interfaces between different automotive subsystems (e.g., powertrain, body electronics, ADAS). Perform root cause analysis for system failures and implement corrective actions. Work with suppliers to define component requirements and validate their designs. Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262, AUTOSAR) and regulations. Develop and maintain system documentation, including technical specifications, design documents, and test reports. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the engineering team. Contribute to strategic planning for future vehicle architectures and technologies. Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets for assigned systems engineering tasks. Conduct design reviews and present technical findings to management and stakeholders. Stay current with emerging automotive technologies and trends. Facilitate communication and collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines and departments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in automotive systems engineering, with a focus on (Specify system area, e.g., ADAS, Infotainment, Powertrain Control). Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and processes. Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion). Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink). Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet). Experience with functional safety standards (ISO 26262) is highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with automotive development lifecycle and V-model. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
