Job Description

Through the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA), Austal is working toward becoming the Commonwealth’s Strategic Shipbuilder in Western Australia. This initiative will enable continuous naval shipbuilding at the Henderson Shipyard, beginning with Landing Craft Medium and Heavy vessels for the Australian Army.

The Opportunity
As part of Austal’s Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) capability, the Scheduler will bring some experience in program planning and scheduling. Reporting to the SSA Planning & Scheduling Manager, this role supports the development and maintenance of program schedules across production, engineering, procurement, and related functions, ensuring alignment with required standards and contractual requirements.
A key focus of the role is to assist in maintaining accurate and reliable schedules that are actively used by the delivery team. This includes supporting basic analysis, contributing to scenario planning, and engaging with stakeholders to help build sound schedule assumptions and baselines. The role also contributes to promoting good scheduling practices and adherence to established processes.
The Scheduler supports the monitoring of schedule performance, assists with variance analysis, and contributes to maintaining effective schedule controls within an Earned Value Management (EVM) environment
What’s Required
Australian Citizenship with eligibility for a Baseline Defence Security Clearance
12 months of scheduling experience in marine, defence, or complex manufacturing environments, desirable
Some experience or understanding of project scheduling principles (in either a scheduling or project environment, desirable)
Exposure to Primavera P6 Professional
Driven to learn, improve and deliver outcomes while maintaining awareness of risk and quality
Proactive mindset with the ability to contribute to team objectives and continuously build capability
Sound communication skills and a customer-focused approach when working with stakeholders
