Job Description
Position Summary:
The Service Counter Sales Associate is a key customer-facing role responsible for delivering exceptional service, driving sales growth (including basket/add-on sales), and helping lead counter operations. This is not a standard sales associate position. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership potential, take ownership of processes, and work closely with Outside Sales Reps to support contractor business. This role has clear growth opportunities toward a senior lead or future management position.
Location: This position is at the RONA store in Kincardine, Ontario.
Duties and Responsibilities, but not limited to:
· Provide excellent customer service to retail and contractor customers, ensuring they have consistent positive experience.
· Build strong, lasting relationships with customers through effective questioning and listening
actively drive basket sales by recommending add-on products and solutions.
· Process sales, quotes, special orders, and returns efficiently using POS and Eagle systems
· Work collaboratively with Outside Sales Reps to support their projects and increase overall store sales
· Identify and resolve customer concerns quickly, escalating complex issues to the Branch Manager when needed
· Clearly understand sales objectives and expectations on a daily basis.
· Provide quotes from building plans and/or material lists.
· Support and promote all marketing initiatives.
· Follows Doidge Building Centres Ltd. And Rona’s standards by following the Daily 8s program.
· Remain current on flyers and promotional events. Provide information and locate promotional products for customers as required.
· Prepare special orders, obtain required information and specifications from customers, contact vendor to establish and confirm price and available delivery date. Applies appropriate margin and informs customer of the amount required for deposit. Forward paperwork to the Special-Order Purchaser for follow up.
· Process web order transactions.
· Help train and support other counter staff
· Identify process improvement opportunities at the service counter and work with the Branch Manager to implement them
· Maintain strong product knowledge and stay current on promotions and inventory
· Act as a key liaison between the counter, yard, and Outside Sales team
· Understands and executes merchandising and marketing initiatives developed by management.
· Shrink conscious and works diligently to reduce loss.
· Ensure inventory integrity and identify potential sources of inventory losses.
· Participates in and executes cycle counts in an accurate and timely manner.
