• *What this job involves**:
Leading on-site Fire Safety operations
Are you a pro at giving on-site support? Working with a team, you’ll oversee the day-to-day fire safety related client activities for the assigned property or facility. You’ll also implement fire system and building procedures -and ensure that they are always maintained. Likewise, you’ll boost on-site operations by promoting best practices and creating better processes. This job will also entail the question “How do I ensure the safety of my colleagues?” You will do this by promoting adherence to health and safety standards.
Winning our clients’ trust
As the assistant fire officer, you’ll be working frequently with engineers, technicians, and clients, so you’ll need to build strong relationships and trust with them. Likewise, you’ll need to be proactive and engaging; and make sure that the clients’ expectations are met each and every time. You will also be the go-to person for any fire and safety-related concerns.
Keeping an eye on system maintenance and contracts
As the person in charge, you will take care of the site’s fire protection and detection systems and ensure requisite maintenance is carried out as per the standards. Also part of your job is to coordinate with vendors and suppliers, and make sure that they deliver quality work practices according to the contract, and at the right cost. You shall also be responsible for maintaining the fire stock and prepare reports as and when necessary based on the tests, maintenance or repairs carried out on the equipment like fire line pumps, extinguishers, engines, PA system, detectors, sprinkler/ hydrant valves, pressure gauges, switches, etc.
- To provide an efficient and effective Security Management service, by ensuring processes are aligned with a professional and proactive management approach.
- Maintains and updates Security Policies and Procedures manual
- Maintains a working knowledge of all current building, fire and life safety code requirements
- Assists in emergency situations (i.e. fire, evacuations human crisis, etc.)
- Communicates with Property Manager regarding events, incidents, concerns of Security Team members, recommendations, staffing needs, etc.
- Reviews security after hours reports and monitors performance
- Assists in performance/behaviour related meetings regarding contract security staff
- Co-develops with the management staff operating guidelines and practices
- Establishes and updates project specific security procedures and crime deterrent programs
- Implements and provides budgets relating to the property and staff
- Ensures appropriate security response to emergencies or unusual occurrences and ensures required internal/external notifications are made as appropriate.
- Provides initial and refresher training to security personnel on policies and procedures, security operations, and emergency response.
- Maintains records on emergency responses, equipment inventory, Key and lock systems, alarm systems, reported security incidents, reported personnel incidents, and unusual occurrences.
- Ensures own and Security personnel activities are conducted in accordance with appropriate ESH, Quality Assurance and Conduct of Operations policies, procedures and orders.
- In addition to the above-mentioned duties and job functions, any other assignments given by Management, within the purview of the contract.
- Directs security personnel operations according to established policies and procedures.
- Investigates incident reports, thefts, accidents and any other unusual reported or observed occurrences and completes all required documentation and reports reflecting security active.
