Regulatory Legal Assistant

Overview

PepsiCo’s Law and Compliance Ethics function helps to drive business objectives and achieve sustainable business results, while also protecting PepsiCo – legally, ethically, and reputationally. This role will advise the PepsiCo regulatory, marketing and business teams as it executes packaging, marketing, and advertising initiatives for its product portfolio in the US. This role will also assist in change management and legal guidance with regard to emerging regulations on ingredients, contaminants and nutritional policy. This is a hybrid role based in Plano, TX and will require coming on site 3 days a week. Relocation is not available. This role reports to the Senior Director, Marketing and Regulatory Law.

Responsibilities

The role of a Senior Legal Assistant on the Regulatory Marketing Legal Team is to review and respond to various and numerous requests from the RD, Marketing, Brand or Public Relations teams regarding product labeling, advertising and marketing activations. This role is often the first line of contact and works in coordination with the attorney supporting this team.
• Convey attorney guidance in food labeling, advertising, marketing, and promotion laws;
• Convey attorney guidance with relation to emerging or current state regulations regarding ingredients, contaminants or packaging;
• Provide early and continuous feedback to minimize legal and reputational risks;
• Represent FLNA in contract negotiations and/or draft contracts and documents; and
• Provide training to marketing and/or RD on legal topics of substantive relevance to the team

Compensation and Benefits
• The expected compensation range for this position is between $66,300 - $111,000.
• Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
• Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 5% of annual salary paid out annually.
• Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
• College/University Degree needed;
• Minimum of three years of advertising, food labeling, government affairs or litigation experience – five years preferred.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to clearly communicate with business leaders, other in-house counsel, outside marketing and regulatory counsel, and government representatives is essential.
• Team player with a collaborative approach and mindset who has the foresight to anticipate issues and include others on a timely basis so business objectives remain on-track.
• Intellectual curiosity and mental stamina to deal with multiple complex issues.
• Ability to project and explain the consequences of actions contemplated by the business and others.
• Ability to grasp technical concepts around nutrition the basis for substantiating business and product positions in the nutrition and wellness areas.
• Superior organizational and prioritization skills.
• Creative, innovative team player with positive attitude who displays sound judgment and strong interpersonal skills and can work well across team and various functions.
