Position Overview
We are seeking a senior, experienced, and highly capable professional to lead the company's Legal Affairs, Government Relations, Political Liaisoning, Regulatory Approvals, and New Project Development activities.
The person will act as a key interface between the company and government departments, regulatory authorities, statutory bodies, public institutions, and other relevant stakeholders, while also taking overall responsibility for coordinating the company's new projects from the initial planning and approval stage through execution.
The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of legal and regulatory matters, excellent government liaisoning and stakeholder-management skills, strong project coordination capabilities, and the ability to work closely with senior management to achieve strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Affairs & Legal Risk Management
Manage and oversee all day-to-day legal affairs of the company.
Provide legal advice to the Managing Director, CEO, and senior management on business and project-related matters.
Review, draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts, agreements, MOUs, leases, vendor agreements, and other legal documents.
Coordinate with external advocates, legal consultants, and law firms.
Manage litigation, arbitration, legal notices, disputes, claims, and other legal proceedings.
Identify potential legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Ensure that all business activities and projects comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
2. Government Relations & Liaisoning
Develop and maintain professional relationships with relevant Central Government, State Government, local government departments, regulatory authorities, statutory bodies, and government agencies.
Coordinate and follow up for government approvals, licenses, registrations, permissions, NOCs, clearances, renewals, and statutory requirements.
Handle government correspondence, applications, representations, submissions, and follow-ups.
Represent the company in meetings with government officials and regulatory authorities when authorized.
Monitor government notifications, policies, regulations, and legislative developments relevant to the company's business.
Ensure timely escalation of important government and regulatory matters to senior management.
3. Political & Stakeholder Liaisoning
Manage professional relationships with elected representatives, public representatives, political stakeholders, community leaders, and other relevant institutional stakeholders, wherever appropriate and lawful.
Coordinate official meetings, visits, representations, and stakeholder interactions.
Develop and maintain a structured stakeholder-engagement plan for important company projects.
Understand local and regional stakeholder dynamics that may affect the company's operations and projects.
Support the company in addressing stakeholder concerns and facilitating constructive communication.
Ensure that all political and stakeholder engagement is conducted professionally, ethically, transparently, and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
4. New Project Development & Execution
Take responsibility for coordinating the company's new projects from concept, planning, approvals, development, and execution stages.
Work closely with the Managing Director/CEO to understand strategic project objectives and timelines.
Coordinate with internal departments including Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, HR, and Administration.
Coordinate with consultants, architects, contractors, vendors, government authorities, and other external stakeholders.
Prepare and monitor project action plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, and approval requirements.
Identify project-related risks, bottlenecks, delays, and regulatory issues and recommend solutions.
Track all government approvals and statutory clearances required for new projects.
Ensure that critical project milestones are achieved within agreed timelines.
Provide regular project status reports to senior management.
5. Project Approvals & Regulatory Clearances
Identify all statutory approvals, permissions, licenses, NOCs, environmental/regulatory clearances, and other requirements for new projects.
Coordinate with relevant government departments and authorities for obtaining approvals.
Maintain an approval tracker and ensure timely submission and follow-up of applications.
Resolve administrative and regulatory issues that may delay project implementation.
Coordinate with legal and technical consultants to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
6. Strategic Support to Management
Act as a strategic advisor to the Managing Director/CEO on legal, government, regulatory, political, and project-related matters.
Prepare briefing notes, reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management.
Monitor policy and regulatory changes that could create opportunities or risks for the company.
Support business expansion and new investment initiatives.
Conduct stakeholder and regulatory risk assessments for major projects.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive business, legal, government, and project information.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have:
LLB / Bachelor's Degree in Law; LLM or MBA/PG qualification will be an advantage.
2-3+ years of relevant experience in legal affairs, corporate affairs, government relations, regulatory affairs, project development, or a similar senior role.
Strong experience dealing with government departments, regulatory authorities, statutory bodies, and institutional stakeholders.
Proven experience in obtaining government approvals, licenses, permissions, NOCs, and regulatory clearances.
Experience in managing or coordinating new projects from planning through execution.
Strong understanding of Indian legal, regulatory, and administrative processes.
Excellent communication, negotiation, representation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Strong leadership and project-management capabilities.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple high-priority matters simultaneously.
Strong professional network and understanding of government procedures will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹243,692.06 - ₹500,000.00 per year
