Details: The Parks and Partnerships section provides management responsibilities for Canberra Nature Park, Namadgi National Park, Murrumbidgee River Corridor, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Molonglo River Park, Googong Foreshores and the Lower Cotter Catchment. The day to day management of the forestry and rural areas within the eastern part of ACT is also a responsibility of the section.
The Ranger in Charge position is responsible for the supervision of Park Rangers, Technical Officers and Field Officers in the planning, coordination and delivery of a broad range of conservation and land management programs within a specific management unit.
The position is outcome focused and works closely with the Area Manager in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of coordinated programs, adhering to the development of operational works and risk management plans.
The Ranger in Charge also maintains effective and courteous relationships with all other stakeholders including neighbours, other government agencies and members of the public.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
Essential:
Experience undertaking incident management duties including participation in fire standby, suppression and training.
A degree in natural resource management with diversified experience of 5-8 years AND/OR equivalent associated natural resource management/environmental science qualifications (eg. cert IV, associate diploma) AND/OR extensive experience in a relevant field.

Notes: This is a temporary position available for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. This process will be used to create a merit pool that will be used to fill temporary vacancies as they arise, the merit pool is valid for up to 12 months.
