Radius Door Carpenter, One-Time Project (Contract)
Job Description
The Project
Build a full-radius flush mahogany exterior door, including the matching radius jamb. This is true curved-work carpentry, not trimming a prefab unit. You'll work from approved shop drawings with dimensions already verified. The decorative glass lite is being fabricated separately. You'll cut the opening and install it.
What you'll do
Build the flush mahogany door slab from scratch, shaping the radius head to template
Construct the matching radius jamb to fit the actual opening
Cut the lite opening per drawings and install the fabricated glass lite with proper stops and weatherproofing
Fit, hang, and tune the door for proper reveal and operation
Work to a tight tolerance standard. Our reputation is built on finish quality.
What we're looking for
Demonstrated experience building radius or arched doors from raw stock. We will ask for photos of past work.
Strong template-making and curved-edge shaping skills
Comfortable working with hardwoods, this project is mahogany
Experience setting glass lites in exterior doors
Able to work independently from shop drawings
Own basic hand tools. Shop equipment and specialty tooling provided.
