Position Summary

Right now, we are looking for a professional, guest service driven Security Officer to be a part of our Security Team. As a member of our Security Team you will be responsible for the safety and protection of team members, guests, the Racetrack and company assets. On a typical day you will ensure the integrity of the Racetrack ares and company property by patrolling and monitoring the entire Backstretch, interior and exterior as well as controlling access to property and restricted areas. This position requires flexibility for scheduling including evenings, graveyards, holidays, and weekend shifts.
Key Accountabilities
Monitoring, documenting and reporting internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities
Preparing electronic statements via a non-gaming record keeping system
Enforcing restricted access by unauthorized persons
Recording and tracking the movement of horses on and off the property
Performing identification checks as required
Referring disputes to the Supervisor, Security
Conducting regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the property as directed
Escorting team members, horsemen and visitors as directed
Performing crowd control as directed
Designated Security Officers may be required to attend to first aid incidents, after completing an Occupational First Aid course
Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations
Opening and closing gates during live horse racing
Performing other duties as assigned
Education and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous Security experience is an asset
Basic Security Training is an asset
Knowledge of horse racing is an asset
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
Ability to exceed internal and external guest expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
Physical ability to perform security-related duties such as running, walking for prolonged periods, maintaining alertness and visual acuity during day and night shifts
Possess a high level of honesty and integrity. Ability to work effectively without direct supervision
Exceptional organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities
Ability to work in close proximity to horses
The ability to obtain/maintain a criminal record check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) - Racing
Serving It Right Certification required
Work Environment Considerations
Regular casino/Racing environment, standing and walking for long periods of time and non-traditional work hours
