PROJECT PLANNER & CONTROLLER
The role
The Project Planner and Controller role will be pivotal in providing project planning, controls and support. As a Project Planner and Controller, you will provide advice, guidance, cost and schedule baseline maintenance including reporting of project cost and schedule status. Assist in mentoring of less experienced Project Planner and Controllers, Project Managers, CAMs and Task Managers in the area of project planning, monitoring and control.
Further, the successful candidate will:
Establish and maintain, in conjunction with project managers and CAMs, the project Contract Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS), CWBS index and CWBS dictionaries
Develop cost performance reports and analyse cost performance data
Establish and maintain a Project Master Schedule in consultation with the project manager and CAMs
Assist project managers and CAMs with the development of project budgets and in the selection of appropriate earned value techniques
Ensure that planning, scheduling, budgeting, accounting, analysis and reporting activities are fully integrated.
Co-ordinate with the contract administrator the preparation of contract changes proposals and the implementation of contract amendments
Produce corrective action reports for CAM analysis
Assist project managers with input data for Steering Committee Reports
Provide guidance for the analysis of project reports
Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, Health & safety, Bullying, Harassment, Violence and Aggression, and duty of care and the quality management system
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role after discussion with the manager
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
3 to 5 years’ experience as a project planner and controller for projects of medium to high complexity
Preferably, experience working in an EV Defence project environment.
Demonstrated knowledge and an effective understanding of project performance measurement using Earned Value to AS-4817 and the Defence Supplement
Experience in developing reports using MS Excel data model capability and Power BI
Knowledge and understanding of Project Management processes e.g. PMBOK
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using project management software Microsoft Project and Open Plan Professional™
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using cost management software preferably COBRA™
Proven analytical problem-solving skills relating to costs and scheduling performance and reporting
Good problem-solving skills in identifying system issues
Tertiary qualifications in an engineering, science or business discipline (desirable)
