About the Role

As Practitioner Population Health based in Counties Manukau as part of our Northern regional team, this permanent, full-time role, provides high quality evidence-based smoking cessation support that meets the needs of individuals and whānau. The role facilitates behaviour change, using a holistic approach that supports the needs and aspirations of the individual and their whānau. Strong relationships across population health services, community and stakeholders is required to ensure individual and whanau wellbeing needs are meet.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

You ideally have demonstrated experience in population health, health education or a similar role with a focus on smoking cessation and holistic wellbeing. You're able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You understand community resources and services related to health and wellbeing.

Tertiary degree in Public Health or related field or equivalent experience
Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
Experience working with people in a caring or supporting role
An excellent communicator, with proven effective leadership experience, skills and expertise with a high level of interpersonal skills
A current full New Zealand driver's license
Willingness to travel across the region
Emotional intelligence and ability to work in complex and stressful environments, with a wide range of diverse stakeholders
Proficient computer literacy including Microsoft packages
Working for Health New Zealand
