Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.
About the Role

The Platform Owner (Clinical) is a key technical and delivery leadership role, responsible for overseeing the performance, optimisation, and ongoing operational management of clinical digital platforms. This role ensures that platform services are reliable, secure, and meet both organisational standards and business needs. With a strong focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement, the Platform Owner drives initiatives to enhance platform capabilities, support cost-efficiency, and align services with the broader digital strategy. Working closely with business owners, stakeholders, and vendors, the role plays a critical part in delivering platform-related outcomes and supporting the implementation of product roadmaps.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Platform Owner (Clinical) sits within the Digital Applications Products function under the wider Digital Services group. Reporting into the Platform Manager Application Databases, this team is focused on reducing duplication and improving alignment across application and product teams, with a strong emphasis on maintaining stability, security, and reliability. The function delivers standard change and supports minor change alongside the Digital Delivery function, prioritising reliability and consistency across services. Teams are structured around the applications and products they support, enabling standardised processes and nationally consistent outcomes. Organised into service portfolios and domains, this structure ensures delivery is aligned to clinical and operational needs while advancing national standardisation efforts.

About you

As an experienced platform or technical leader, you'll bring a strong track record in optimising complex digital platforms and ensuring secure, reliable services. You balance innovation with risk, and work effectively across teams and vendors to drive continuous improvement. Experience in the health sector would be an advantage, but not essential. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:

Preferred minimum of 10 years of IT experience in a relevant technical field or other leadership roles.
Preferred minimum 5 years in technical leadership roles and/or responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to optimise financial and service performance of complex critical systems.
Experienced ICT professional with a strong track record in technical leadership and providing expert guidance across complex IT environments.
