About the Role

Our client, a leading producer of specialty chemicals, is seeking a seasoned and results-driven Plant Operations Manager to oversee their facility in Halifax, Nova Scotia, CA . This is a key leadership position responsible for all aspects of plant operations, including production, safety, maintenance, and logistics. The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, optimize resource utilization, and ensure the plant meets its production targets while adhering to the highest safety and environmental standards. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing complex manufacturing operations and fostering a high-performance team culture. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to lead substantial operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities Manage and direct all day-to-day plant operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective production. Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve production goals and enhance overall efficiency. Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of plant equipment and infrastructure to minimize downtime. Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies. Manage departmental budgets, controlling costs and optimizing resource allocation. Lead, mentor, and develop the plant's operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with supply chain, sales, and engineering departments to align operations with business objectives. Oversee inventory management and ensure timely delivery of products to customers. Champion safety initiatives and ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical) or Operations Management, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations management, with a strong focus on chemical production. Demonstrated experience in leading large teams and managing complex operational budgets. In-depth knowledge of production processes, plant maintenance, safety protocols, and environmental regulations. Proven ability to implement lean manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement. Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills. Experience with ERP systems and production management software. Must be eligible to work in Halifax, Nova Scotia, CA . Strong understanding of quality management systems.
