Responsibilities
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the financial information that drives business decisions
This position owns significant portions of the accounting cycle, applies sound accounting judgment to complex transactions, and delivers meaningful financial insight that supports responsible growth
Own the accuracy and completeness of assigned financial statement accounts through journal entries, reconciliations, and thoughtful analysis
Record property acquisitions, sales, and other transactions in accordance with company policies
Analyze complex or non-routine transactions and recommend appropriate accounting treatment
Identify accounting issues proactively and help resolve them before they impact financial reporting
Financial Close & Reporting
Execute assigned portions of the monthly close process with accuracy and timeliness
Prepare bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Analyze financial statements to identify unusual trends, variances, or potential errors
Prepare internal financial reports and respond to ad hoc reporting and analysis requests
Assist with the preparation of financial statements for internal management and external stakeholders
Debt & Financing Accounting
Maintain the accounting records for the company’s debt portfolio within NetLoan, ensuring loan activity, balances, interest calculations, and payment schedules are complete and accurately reconciled to the general ledger
Prepare periodic debt compliance and covenant reporting in accordance with lender requirements
Monitor debt activity and maintain supporting documentation to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting
Audit & Compliance
Prepare audit workpapers, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for the annual financial statement audit
Assist with GAAP adjustments, technical accounting research, and responses to auditor requests
Process Improvement
Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements that strengthen internal controls, improve reporting quality, and increase efficiency
Participate in ERP enhancements, system implementations, and automation initiatives
Develop standardized procedures that improve consistency, scalability, and accuracy

What You Have Already Achieved (Requirements)

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

· Three or more years of progressive accounting experience.

· Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy.

· Positive, solution-focused and growth mindset.

Preferred

· Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or actively pursuing certification.

· Public accounting experience.

· Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).

· Experience in real estate, construction, or development accounting.

· Experience supporting annual financial statement audits.
