Description:
This individual provides care to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist. The PTA will implement physical therapy interventions, obtain data, and document results of treatment sessions. This individual will collaborate with a team of experienced therapists to help promote the patient’s personalized goals, while also supporting our organizational mission, values, and actions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists physical therapists in performing tests, evaluations, treatment procedures, and job simulation training.
Exercises responsibility for patient’s personal care and environment throughout treatment.
Provides patient treatment as outlined by physical therapist’s plan of care.
Records and reports patient’s progress towards established goals, and data related to care in the patient’s medical record/chart.
Instructs patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living, safe body mechanics, home exercise programs, and return to work precautions according to plan of care.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of a two-year college program leading to Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant
Compliance with the State of Iowa Physical Therapy Association Rules and Regulations concerning licensure
Experience: One year experience in acute setting preferred.
Special Skills and Competencies: Ability to communicate with patient and instruct them in exercise programs.
