Hours: 40 hours, rotating shifts
Location : Children's Main Campus Pharmacy
What you will do:
Under the supervision of a staff pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II is responsible for providing technical support to pharmacists at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in the Central pharmacy, oncology clinic, intensive care units, operating room, TPN area and/or the Employee Prescription Center. This includes, but is not limited to, the preparation, packaging and delivery of medications for both inpatients and outpatients.
What you will need :
Current status as a Pharmacy Tech I.
Licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of Wisconsin
Six months of pharmacy tech experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
Strong proficiency in mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and proportions at a level normally acquired through completion of high school.
Ability to read and write at a level where the candidate can review and update patient profiles, as well as understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Additional vocational training in a Pharmacy Technician Program or equivalent work experience is preferred.
Good interpersonal and customer relations skills are needed to communicate effectively with various hospital personnel and families and to gather and exchange factual pharmaceutical information.
Ability to work well under pressure due to time constraints and varying workloads.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. This is required when packaging medications, preparing IV solutions, maintaining records and many other functions requiring accuracy.
Ability to operate a computer in order to generate lists, process medication orders, enter charges/credits, generate labels, retrieve patient information, and handle automated dispensing unit functions.
Ability to walk and stand up to 80% of the work time.
Ability to push, pull, and lift weights up to 30 pounds for up to 25% of the work time. This is required when exchanging unit dose carts and stocking pharmacy areas.
