Responsibilities
Responsibilities include processing prescription orders in the IHS Electronic Health Record (EHR), performing comprehensive drug utilization reviews, and providing patient counseling on medication use
The candidate will also be involved in inventory control, maintaining records for controlled substances, and collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize patient care
Process prescription orders in the IHS Electronic Health Record (EHR), ensuring completeness, appropriateness, dosing, and allergy checks
Check for drug-drug and food interactions, contraindications, and warnings; assess renal function
Counsel patients on the safe and effective use of medications
Review patient profiles, monitor medication therapy, identify medication-related problems, and propose solutions
Ensure the accuracy of all pharmaceutical products prepared by technical staff
Provide medication-related information and training to clinical staff
Assist with inventory control of pharmaceuticals and supplies, specifically scheduled pharmaceuticals
Maintain records and security of controlled substances, document medication interactions, and report adverse drug reactions (ADR) and medication errors
Consult with specialty practitioners to optimize patient care and participate in quality improvement efforts
