Job Description

The Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is actively recruiting a full-time clinical academic neurosurgeon with specialized fellowship training in pediatric neurosurgery.

The position is based at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, which serves as the sole level 1 Trauma and Spine Centre for northern Saskatchewan, as well as at the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital, the province's only pediatric hospital. Currently, eight Neurosurgeons provide comprehensive neurosurgical care to a population of over 700,000 people, but only two have pediatric fellowship training. This recruitment is to fill the role of one of these pediatric-trained neurosurgeons. The position will involve contributing to both adult and pediatric Acute Care Neurosurgery services and collaborating closely with the Divisions of Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide high-quality patient care, engage in teaching, and contribute to research. Clinical or translational research interests are encouraged and supported. The academic rank will be determined based on applicants' qualifications and experience. The position also includes involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate education, as well as multidisciplinary neurosciences research programs.

The anticipated start date for the position is on or after April 1, 2026.

Compensation details - Competitive independent contract

Job Qualifications

Candidates in consideration will hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canadacertification in Neurosurgery and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
