The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.

Job Information
Located on the southern shores of the Great Slave Lake in Hay River, NT, the Library Order Clerk position will be responsible for the purchasing and receiving of books, DVDs, periodicals, an all library and office supplies for NWT Public Library Services to ensure timely and accurate procurement of library resources.

The Library Clerk reports to the Head of Technical Services, and is responsible for the procurement of library resources for 21 community libraries in the Northwest Territories, the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and the Borrow-by-Mail (BBM) programs. While the purchasing is performed under approval of the Head of Technical Services and the Territorial Librarian and must follow all Government of the Northwest Territories Legislation, policies, procedures, and purchasing best practices.

The Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for this position are:

Knowledge of and ability to use computer information systems, including word processing and publishing programs such as MS Word, Excel, Access, Internet, and e-mail applications.
Knowledge of, and /or the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of Integrated Library System (ILS) and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)
Knowledge of Financial processes for ordering, receiving, and payment of purchased material.
Verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.
Ability to work effectively and respectfully in a cross-cultural environment.
The above Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are Typically attained by:

Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
2 years experience minimum with procurement, shipping and receiving, and supply management.
Equivalencies may include

Completion of GED equivalent and one (1) year of relevant work experience.
Completion of a relevant Certificate (Purchasing, Secretarial or Business Administration) and a minimum of one (1) year of experience with procurement, shipping and receiving, and supply management.
