Job Description
Astro Hill / Nunsatar Properties is seeking an experienced and hands on Operations Manager to oversee building operations across a diverse residential and commercial property portfolio in Iqaluit, NU.
This leadership role requires strong technical expertise, Class 4 Power Engineering certification (required), and the ability to effectively manage teams and infrastructure in a northern, remote environment. Class 3 certification is considered a strong asset.
The Role
Reporting to senior property leadership, the Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations, maintenance programs, and facilities teams, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations across all properties. The role provides leadership to approximately 15–20 employees, including supervisory staff.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day to day building operations across residential and commercial properties
Lead, mentor, and support maintenance and facilities personnel
Conduct regular property inspections and mechanical assessments
Manage boiler plants, glycol heated systems, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC infrastructure
Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance programs
Coordinate service requests, repairs, and operational priorities
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards
Support capital projects, renovations, and contractor coordination
Monitor operating budgets, inventory, and resource allocation
Build and maintain strong relationships with tenants, vendors, and internal teams
Participate in on call rotations and respond to after hours emergencies as required
Candidate Profile
Class 4 Power Engineering Certificate (required)
Class 3 Power Engineering Certificate (preferred)
Minimum 6+ years of experience in building operations, facilities management, or property leadership
Strong technical knowledge of boiler systems, glycol heating, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical operations
Proven experience leading maintenance or facilities teams
Experience with preventative maintenance planning and work order systems
Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
Comfortable working in a remote northern environment
Willing and able to relocate to Iqaluit, NU
