Vedic Gems is a just-launched brand bringing prescription astrological gemstones to customers across India. These are stones chosen with care and prescribed for their significance — which means authenticity, certification, and provenance aren't nice-to-haves, they're the entire promise we make to every customer. Based in Jaipur, the heart of India's gemstone trade, we're building the operational backbone of the business from the ground up.
We're looking for an Operations Lead to design and run the engine that gets a genuine, certified gemstone from our sourcing partners to a customer's doorstep — reliably, every single time. This is a hands-on, build-from-scratch role for someone who has run a tight e-commerce operation before and is excited to do it again, this time owning it end to end.
You'll be a player-coach: setting up processes and vendor relationships yourself in the early days, while guiding a small team and scaling the function as we grow. You'll have real ownership over how operations take shape.
Job Responsibilities:
• Order fulfillment — Design and run the full fulfillment flow from order to delivery. Your north-star metric is on-time shipping for more than 99.9% of orders, with accuracy and packaging quality to match the value of what we ship.
• Logistics & courier vendor management — Select, onboard, and manage shipping partners. Negotiate rates and SLAs, monitor performance, and build the contingencies that keep deliveries on track for high-value, fragile goods.
• Certification vendor coordination — Coordinate with gemological labs and certification partners so every stone we sell is verified and documented. Build the workflows that make certification fast, traceable, and airtight.
• Gemstone sourcing coordination — Partner with sourcing vendors and suppliers to keep quality inventory flowing. Manage timelines, quality checks, and the handoffs between sourcing, certification, and fulfillment.
• Returns management — Own the returns and exchange process end to end, with secure handling, inspection, and re-certification of high-value stones, clear customer-facing policies, and reverse-logistics workflows that protect both inventory value and customer trust.
• Process & systems — Stand up the SOPs, tools, and tracking that let operations run predictably and scale without breaking.
• Team — Hire, onboard, and lead a small operations team as the business grows.
Ideal candidate we are looking for:
• 6+ years in operations, with a strong track record in e-commerce fulfilment and logistics.
• You've built or substantially scaled an operations function before — comfortable creating order out of ambiguity rather than maintaining someone else's system.
• Hands-on and detail-obsessed, but able to step back, design process, and lead a team.
• Sharp vendor manager and negotiator who builds dependable partner relationships.
• Data-driven about performance — you set metrics, track them, and act on them.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Jaipur for an on-site role.
• Bachelor's degree; we value relevant operational experience over pedigree.
• Experience in gems, jewelry, or luxury goods is welcome but not required
