The Department
Our Finance team continues to go from strength to strength and we are involved in exciting and innovative initiatives across the firm. Rather than being considered a necessary support function, our Finance department is an integral part of the strategy of the firm, and this is reflected both by the level of investment and how new initiatives are discussed at the most senior level.
Duties And Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to manage the processing and payment of the firms counsel fees and professional disbursements, as well as other office account related duties. Specific duties include:
Reconciling counsel fees notes and adding new fees to the disbursement ledger.
Setting up new suppliers for professional disbursements and posting invoices - both UK and International experts.
Ensuring all fees are paid from a daily report in line with the SRA requirements.
Arranging other ad hoc payments, to include entering onto our on-line banking system.
Dealing with queries and updates on payment from counsel/experts.
Ensuring all anticipated disbursements are accounted for.
Dealing with receipts into the office account.
Monitoring and maintaining the firm's credit card account.
Dealing with internal queries both within accounts and from the wider firm.
Ad-hoc projects.
Skills/Experience
Experience of working within a legal cashiering team.
Some knowledge of Solicitors' Accounts Rules.
Experience of using a legal accounts system, such as Elite / Aderant.
Basic Excel skills.
Some understanding of VAT.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to effectively manage own workload.
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Personable and confident, able to build relationships with partners/ key stakeholders.
Resilient and calm under pressure.
Adaptable and flexible approach.
Pro-active and takes initiative.
