Network Architect/Engineer
Job Description
Responsibilities
• Design, build, configure, and commission the enterprise network infrastructure supporting remote mining operations, ensuring scalable and resilient connectivity from construction through production.
• Lead the delivery of enterprise connectivity upgrades, including network hardware, switching, routing, load balancing, failover technologies, and integration with future fibre connectivity initiatives.
• Develop and implement OT/IT network architecture, including network segmentation, interoperability, security controls, and communications infrastructure that support operational and business systems across mining sites.
• Manage the procurement, specification, installation, and commissioning of network technology hardware, coordinating vendors, contractors, and site personnel to ensure successful deployment.
• Partner with mine engineering, construction, and operational teams to translate business and site requirements into practical network solutions while ensuring technology considerations are incorporated into broader mine planning activities.
• Implement and maintain network security standards, access controls, and segmentation strategies, while supporting the transition of network operations from managed service providers to an internally managed mining operations environment.
Qualifications
• 8+ years of progressive network engineering experience with a demonstrated track record designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure in mining, industrial, energy, construction, or other operationally intensive environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with network technologies including routing, switching, LAN/WAN infrastructure, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, load balancing, failover, and resilient connectivity solutions.
• Experience designing and implementing OT/IT network architectures, including integration of operational technology environments with corporate infrastructure while maintaining appropriate security and segmentation controls.
• Proven experience managing network hardware procurement, vendor coordination, installation activities, and commissioning of enterprise-grade network infrastructure at physical or remote sites.
• Background supporting remote, greenfield, or large-scale mining projects, with the ability to work closely with engineering, construction, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Relevant network certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are considered strong assets, along with experience in highly regulated industries, fibre network integration, cybersecurity frameworks, and transitioning services from managed service providers to internal teams.
