Job Description
Line of Business: Capital Market, PBBT, and Retail Banking
Potential for this contract to be extended or converted to FTE: Possibility for both but depends on budget and performance
Work location: 81 Bay 16th Floor, Hybrid - in office every Tuesday for the time being.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. A little flexibility with work hours. 37.5hours/week. Overtime may be required; weekends may be required (on call) *1 person each week is on standby - this will be a rotating person each week.
Interview Process: maximum 2 rounds of technical interview possible with HM + team members; MS Teams and 2nd will be in person on a Tuesday. 2PM to 4PM ideally

Reason the role is open: Backfill for a contractor who left to go home for personal reasons
Project the contractor will be working on: providing database support related to Oracle build, migration, performance tuning and incident resolutions.
Group information: 20 DBAs on the team, team is sub divided in 2 teams and support database for various lines of business, doing complex trouble shooting, code deployment, BAU activities

The Candidate will Be Working with: Solution Design, DB Engineering, Information Security teams and external vendors.
Daily Job Duties/Activities:
Taking ownership of and leading technical resolutions for production incidents
Communicating clearly complex technical issues to stakeholders and Lines of Business partners
Complying with CIBC standards for change control and overall database security policies
Analyzing recurring incidents and identifying service improvements where possible
Providing on-call rotational/pager support where required
Participating in Incidents and Changes as part of BAU Operational activities
Participating in Scheduled Disaster Recovery or SCM activities
Participating in post-mortems and RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) of critical incidents
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases.
Optimize database performance, including indexing, query tuning, and resource management.
Ensure database security by implementing best practices for user access control, encryption, and auditing.
Implement native security features in Oracle (TDE, Data Redaction, Database Vault) and SQL Server (TDE, Always Encrypted).
RAC, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
Automate database monitoring and maintenance tasks.
Must Haves:
5-7 years of experience in Azure Cloud database (Focus on MSSQL)
Experience with PostgreSQL - 2+ years
Setup/Installation and configuration of DB products
Experience in Tuning, Query Optimization, Monitoring and Troubleshooting database issues
Cloud migration experience
Exhibit knowledge of DB backup restore and recovery
