Job Description
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) professional designs and oversees the core systems that make buildings inhabitable, functional, and energy-efficient. They collaborate with architects and construction teams to integrate these networks while adhering strictly to local safety codes and sustainability standards.Core ResponsibilitiesSystem Design & Planning: Calculate load requirements and draft detailed blueprints for HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), electrical power distribution, lighting, water supply, and drainage.Site Execution: Manage the physical installation of MEP systems at construction sites, ensuring contractors follow approved design specifications.Coordination: Review contractor drawings to resolve system clashes and prevent conflicts with architectural or structural elements.Testing & Commissioning: Inspect systems for functionality, perform safety checks, and ensure all installations comply with building codes and fire safety regulations.Cost Estimation: Evaluate project requirements, determine material needs, and provide budget estimates for electrical, plumbing, and HVAC components.Key Skills & ToolsTechnical Proficiencies: Strong working knowledge of industry standards such as ASHRAE for HVAC, NFPA for fire protection, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).Software: Proficiency in design and modeling tools like AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).Soft Skills: Excellent cross-team collaboration, problem-solving, and communication to manage technicians, vendors, and clients.Typical Industries & RolesIndustries: Real estate development, commercial construction, industrial facilities, and engineering consulting firms.Job Titles: MEP Engineer, MEP Project Manager, MEP Coordinator, and Junior MEP Site Engineer.
