Duties
Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes, ensuring precise documentation for billing purposes.
Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using electronic health record (EHR) systems and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices, resolving discrepancies promptly.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation requirements and improve coding accuracy.
Manage medical records with confidentiality, ensuring proper organization and secure storage of sensitive information.
Stay updated on changes in ICD coding standards, CPT coding updates, and healthcare billing regulations to maintain expertise.
Skills
Proficiency in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
Strong understanding of medical billing procedures and medical collection strategies.
Experience with EMR and EHR systems for documentation and claim processing.
Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and medical records management.
Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for coding purposes.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
