Job Description
Wood are recruiting a Mechanical Static Technical Authority to support their Client, TP-OTC, on the development of their Phase 2 Onshore Processing Facility EPC scope.
The position is based in the Client engineering office in Istanbul for an initial period and may include visits to the Client site within Türkiye.
Sakarya gas field is located approximately 170km offshore of Türkiye at a depth of 2150m. Development of the subsea infrastructure and OPF has recently been completed with Gas to Flare being achieved in April 2026 and Gas to Grid in August 2026, making it the world's fastest offshore field development.
Turkish Petroleum continue exploration and are developing Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the project which includes provision of an FPU.
The Candidate shall integrate within the Client Engineering Group and project team.
Wood provide Operations Assurance to TP-OTC, and the role of Discipline Technical Authorities are critical to the safe and successful delivery of Türkiye's national production.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory and Managerial Duties: Lead and supervise other Mechanical team members to ensure delivery of project objectives inclusive of safety, integrity, planning and commercial aspects. Provide general leadership, coaching and mentoring for all team members. Basic Purpose of Job:
Offer Subject Matter Expert level of input, advice and guidance to the Engineering team within the scope of Mechanical Static discipline.
Provide decision-making ability for the Mechanical Static discipline within the TP-OTC engineering team within the scope of Phase 2 OPF (Onshore Processing Facility) EPC.
Liaison with vendors, contractor and other Client personnel to satisfy various aspects of the project.
Deliver relevant Mechanical and related project objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Qualifications
C.Eng., full member of engineering institution, desirable.
BSc/BEng/MEng degree course satisfying academic requirements of the Engineering Institutions for chartered status associate membership of an engineering institution at an appropriate level, desirable.
BSc/BEng/MEng in an appropriate subject with relevant experience and job responsibilities, desirable.
Associate membership of an engineering institution at an appropriate level, essential.
HND/HNC in engineering or equivalent with considerable experience and job responsibilities in relevant engineering and maintenance positions, essential.
MSc or MBA or similar to demonstrate personal development, desirable.
Specific Training/Specialist Skills
Experience of Oil and Gas operations, essential.
Experience of Gas Plant operations - Conceptual Design/FEED/Detailed Design/Engineering, essential.
Modelling, RCM, FMEA and criticality techniques in general, desirable.
Supervision of engineering teams, including development of personnel, desirable.
Evidence of design and engineering expertise within Mechanical Static discipline, essential.
Proficient in all international standards and regulations such as ASME, ANSI, ISO etc. in their field of expertise, essential.
Experience
15 years+ experience in the same role, essential.
Incident investigation skills, desirable.
Knowledge of relevant Oil & Gas legislation and guidance, essential.
Management of sub-contractors & budgets, desirable.
Able to understand and implement complex plans and resourced work schedules, essential.
Able to innovate: utilise tools, techniques, processes or equipment successfully used in other contexts which can be successfully applied to design and engineering, essential.
Management of the engineering function on a contract or asset, desirable.
Substantial experience in similar technical management positions held within engineering/oil & gas industries with evidence of personal development within those industries, essential.
Experience working in EPC projects of operators, advantageous.
Knowledge of Commissioning and Operation, advantageous.
