Mechanical Project Engineer
Walsall, West Midlands WS2 7EB · Permanent, Full-time · £32,000–£36,000 per year
Parsons is a leading designer, manufacturer, installer and maintainer of fume & odour scrubbing equipment, working across a wide range of industries to deliver specialist air pollution control solutions. We're looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the design, development, manufacture, installation and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment across the Parsons Group. Working under the guidance of our Engineering Manager, you'll provide technical engineering input across all project phases while building practical experience in a specialist and varied engineering environment.
What you'll be doing
Assist in the design and specification of mechanical systems and equipment, producing engineering calculations, technical reports and design documentation
Produce and review engineering drawings using CAD software, including General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
Assess project requirements and agree timescales and specifications with clients and the Engineering Manager
Support projects across all phases — design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning — including site surveys and inspections across the UK
Prepare risk assessments, method statements and technical procedures
Test, evaluate and modify equipment to ensure it's safe, reliable and efficient
Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers as required
Work in line with health and safety legislation and Parsons' quality and environmental procedures
What we're looking for
Essential:
BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering
Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Competent in CAD software and Microsoft Office
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good written and verbal communication
Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Knowledge of vessel design to PD5500
Experience with ventilation, ductwork or pipework systems
Familiarity with process design and instrumentation control systems
Knowledge of CDM Regulations
Experience with fans, pumps, pneumatics or sound attenuation
Knowledge of structural steel design
Travel & working pattern
This is a regional role, with work across customer and project sites throughout the UK — a company vehicle will be available where possible. Based full-time at Parsons House, Walsall, with site visits as required.
