Job Description
Lead maintenance performance at one of New Zealand’s leading dairy manufacturers.
Westland Milk Products, part of the global Yili Oceania Group, produces high-quality dairy nutrition for export markets. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Manager to lead maintenance execution and drive plant reliability at our Hokitika site.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance & Services Manager, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of mechanical maintenance across the site—ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will coordinate planned, preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance, while driving high standards of execution, safety, and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily mechanical maintenance across plant, equipment, and site services
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance, including shutdown and off-season work
Drive strong health & safety leadership and safe work practices
Lead frontline teams and manage contractors on-site
Coordinate closely with Production to align maintenance with operational needs
Manage weekly work plans and adapt to changing priorities
Ensure effective use of CMMS for work management and reporting
Oversee maintenance budgets, materials, and resource planning
Improve reliability by addressing breakdowns and recurring failures
Drive continuous improvement in maintenance systems and execution
What You’ll Bring
Proven leadership experience in manufacturing or industrial maintenance
Strong mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting capability
Experience managing both planned and reactive maintenance workloads
Knowledge of CMMS systems and shutdown planning
Strong coordination and communication skills across teams and contractors
Ability to drive high standards, accountability, and quality execution
Relevant trade or engineering qualification
