Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our shipbuilding team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and supervising the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems on ships and marine structures. This role requires expertise in mechanical design, marine engineering standards, and shipyard operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical systems for ships, including propulsion systems, HVAC, piping, and auxiliary machinery.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Ensure mechanical designs comply with international maritime regulations and classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV, IRS).
Conduct feasibility and cost analysis for mechanical systems.
Oversee installation and commissioning of mechanical components in new builds or retrofits.
Troubleshoot mechanical failures and recommend solutions.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as naval architects, electrical engineers, and quality assurance.
Prepare and maintain technical reports and documentation.
Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Monitor equipment and system performance during sea trials.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
3+ years of relevant experience in the shipbuilding or marine industry.
Strong knowledge of ship systems, marine engines, pumps, HVAC, and piping.
Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and marine design tools.
Understanding of safety and environmental regulations applicable to shipbuilding.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to work effectively in shipyard and onboard environments.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
Experience with ship repair, retrofitting, or offshore platforms.
Certification in marine engineering (e.g., STCW, MEO Class IV/III preferred).
Knowledge of advanced manufacturing processes and automation in shipbuilding.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
