Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Meat Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the proper handling and presentation of meat products, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role is essential in delivering quality food products and a positive shopping experience for our customers. Previous experience in food service or the food industry is preferred, along with strong skills in food safety, sanitation, and basic math.
Duties
Assist customers with selecting meat products, offering recommendations and upselling when appropriate
Properly handle, cut, and prepare meat products following food safety and sanitation standards
Operate POS systems such as Micros POS for transactions, including cash handling and processing payments accurately
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat department, including sanitation of equipment and work areas
Ensure all meat products are properly labeled with pricing and expiration dates
Manage inventory levels, restocking displays, and rotating stock to ensure freshness
Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, answering questions about products, and ensuring a positive shopping experience
Follow all food safety guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations
Assist in other store departments as needed to support overall store operations
Experience
Previous experience in food preparation, retail food service, or the food industry is highly desirable
Experience with POS systems such as Micros POS or similar cashiering technology is preferred
Strong time management skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks during busy periods
Knowledge of food handling, sanitation standards, and basic math for accurate measurement and pricing
Experience in restaurant or kitchen environments can be beneficial for understanding food safety protocols
Excellent customer service skills with a focus on serving diverse clientele
Ability to perform cashiering duties including cash handling and upselling techniques
