Material Handler (360 Operator)
Job Description
We are recruiting Material Handlers (360 Operators) to join our team at our new Nottingham site.
This is a skilled plant operator role responsible for operating 360 material handlers in a safe, controlled and productive manner. You will play a key role in maintaining site throughput, feeding plant, loading vehicles and ensuring materials are handled efficiently.
You will also be responsible for the daily care, inspection and safe operation of your allocated machine.
Key Responsibilities
Operate 360 material handlers to move, load and sort scrap materials
Feed processing equipment safely and efficiently
Load and unload vehicles in line with site procedures
Maintain awareness of site traffic management plans and pedestrian safety
Conduct daily pre-start checks and complete required documentation
Report defects, faults or performance issues immediately
Carry out routine cleaning and basic maintenance of your machine
Work to production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards
Support housekeeping standards across operational areas
Machine Responsibility
Operators are expected to take ownership of their machine, including:
Daily inspections and condition monitoring
Reporting wear and tear or mechanical issues promptly
Keeping the cab and external areas clean and presentable
Operating within manufacturer guidelines and site procedures
Health, Safety & Compliance
Operate plant in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and site rules
Wear appropriate PPE at all times
Follow Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Remain vigilant to pedestrians, other plant and vehicle movements
Report near misses, hazards or unsafe behaviours
Support environmental compliance requirements
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Valid 360 material handler / excavator licence (e.g. NPORS or CPCS)
Experience operating 360 plant within recycling, waste, aggregates or heavy industry
Strong understanding of safe plant operation
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Reliable and safety-focused
Desirable:
Experience working within metal recycling
Basic mechanical awareness
