This is a Temporary Contract position up to twelve (12) months.

About the Occupational Safety Team
The Occupational Safety Team is responsible for supporting a safe and healthy workplace by developing and implementing health and safety programs which deliver high quality, evidence based best practices while ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other legislative requirements. They communicate, engage, and collaborate with management and employees to develop strategies to prevent, control and eliminate occupational injuries, address safety concerns, and implement improvements. Responsibilities include conducting regular safety inspections, identifying and mitigating potential hazards, developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, providing safety training and education to employees, investigating accidents and near-miss incidents, supporting Joint Health and Safety Committees and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
In this role you will:
Complete health evaluation forms for workers identified to be fit tested for N95, half-face, or full-face cartridge respirators
Conduct respirator mask fit testing in accordance with CSA Standards
Provide accessibility options for those unable to utilize respirators needed for their position
Provide training and instruction for Sinai Health people required to utilize alternative respiratory protection (e.g. controlled air-purifying respirator)
Educate participants on respirator mask donning and doffing, etc.
Sanitize/disinfect testing room and equipment
Create, update and maintain mask fit records in accordance with the CSA standard and the Sinai Health Respiratory Protection Program
Generate fit test certificates upon request
Aid in maintaining mask fit testing compliance across the organization via manager outreach
Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned

Mandatory
Successful completion of a high school diploma or currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline from an accredited educational institution
Minimum of 6 months experience providing training in a group setting
Preferred
Previous experience in occupational health and safety
Background in healthcare or a related field
Skills and Knowledge
Proficiency with both quantitative and qualitative fit testing methods
Excellent computer and keyboarding skills
Exceptional customer service skills
Proven attendance record
Demonstrates an understanding and complies with safety related policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive workplace.
