The Belleville Senators, the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, are seeking a strategic and creative Marketing Manager to lead the club’s marketing efforts throughout the hockey season and beyond. This role is ideal for a results-oriented marketer with proven experience in email marketing, digital tools, and campaign execution who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative sports environment. You’ll be responsible for building and executing multi-channel campaigns that drive ticket and merchandise sales, elevate digital presence, and deliver value for fans and corporate partners. This role plays a critical part in our fan engagement, brand growth, and revenue-generating strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy Campaign Execution:
Develop and lead marketing campaigns that support ticketing initiatives (season seats, single-game, groups, premium), merchandise promotions, theme nights, and community events.
Coordinate and execute the promotional game strategy, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure alignment and accountability across departments.
Drive digital-first campaigns to reach key audience segments, increase engagement, and convert fans across all channels.
Manage and optimize the seasonal marketing budget, ensuring smart resource allocation and strong return on investment.
Email Marketing Digital Tools:
Lead strategy and execution of email marketing, including segmentation, design, scheduling, and performance tracking.
Utilize platforms such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or HubSpot to deliver timely, relevant messaging to fans and partners.
Work closely with the Marketing Coordinator to create effective, visually engaging email content aligned with business priorities.
Continuously analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies to improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversions.
Social Media Website Management:
Oversee the club’s social media calendar and work with the Marketing Coordinator and Communications team to deliver timely, engaging content.
Ensure consistency in messaging and visual branding across social, web, email, and paid digital platforms.
Manage website updates and content in support of ticketing, merchandise, promotions, and partnerships.
Leverage digital tools including Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Later, Canva, and others to support campaign execution and reporting.
Sales Partnerships Integration:
Align marketing initiatives with Ticketing and Corporate Partnerships teams to maximize visibility and fulfill partner deliverables.
Provide creative support for partnership activations, promotions, giveaways, and community-driven campaigns.
Team Leadership Collaboration:
Lead weekly marketing team meetings and one-on-one check-ins with staff and interns.
Collaborate with internal departments including Game Presentation, Business Operations, Ticketing, Partnerships, and Communications to maintain unified messaging and campaign delivery.
Analytics Optimization:
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including email engagement, digital ad metrics, campaign ROI, and ticket sales performance.
Use insights and analytics to refine marketing strategies, improve engagement, and meet seasonal goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, or a related field.
3–5 years of marketing and leadership experience, ideally in sports, live entertainment, or events.
Demonstrated experience leading (including targeting/writing/sending) email marketing campaigns with a third party system (Acoustic, HubSpot, SalesForce, etc.)
Strong understanding of digital marketing tools, including social media platforms, scheduling software, paid advertising dashboards, and web analytics including word press.
Experience managing budgets, tracking marketing spend, and reporting on ROI
Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret data to drive decision-making.
Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends as required during the hockey season.
