Job Description
Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Fully remote, contract details negotiable
Purpose
You will assist with managing and enhancing WANZ’s online and digital presence, promoting our events and programs, and increasing community engagement with our membership and the public through various digital and print platforms.
Responsibilities and Duties
Marketing
Reach and creatively engage with our desired audiences.
Promote Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand events and activities to targeted audiences and the general public
Encourage Wikimedians contributing to New Zealand content to join as WANZ members
Raise the profile of Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand within the open knowledge sector, Gallery, Library, Archives, and Museums sector and education sector.
Communications
Organise the delivery of the WANZ Communications Strategy and action plan
Craft engaging content and stories tailored to a variety of different audiences and platforms.
Write engaging press releases and build relationships with mainstream media.
Engage, build and maintain relationships with the Gallery, Library, Archives, and Museums sector, educational institutions, and relevant clubs and groups.
Knowledge and skills required
Digital marketing confidence and experience, preferably in the non-profit sector, including experience in growing awareness online through social and mainstream media.
Interest in/or proficiency in social media analytics tools and platforms (e.g., Facebook Insights, Google Analytics) to measure audience engagement and impact.
Ability to work autonomously and get results
Loves writing and editing and digital media
Solid verbal and good writing skills
Proven results in at least one of our chosen demographics
Demonstrates cultural intelligence and competence
Technology savvy
Preferred
Established contacts with mainstream media
This is a part time contractor role, fully remote but preferably based in Wellington to allow for face to face meetings with the other part time paid position. Hours and contract details are flexible.
