WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Manager, Communications

The Manager, Communications will play a leading role in the development and execution of Tennis Canada’s and the National Bank Open’s communications and media relations strategy. This role is central to elevating Tennis Canada’s profile, strengthening media relationships, and supporting initiatives that drive participation in tennis across the country.


General Communications & Media Relations

Lead the development and execution of integrated communications plans aligned with Tennis Canada’s mission and objectives.
Drive awareness of Tennis Canada as a leading not-for-profit organization.
Develop and manage media relations strategies across Toronto and English Canada.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key media, journalists, and stakeholders.
Manage media contact lists and oversee reporting using tools such as Meltwater or Cision.
Create and publish content across Tennis Canada’s digital platforms.
Manage relationships with partners, sponsors, and vendors.
Provide communications support for Team Canada. (Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup)
Tennis Development

Provide strategic communications leadership to support tennis participation growth across Canada.
Collaborate with Provincial and Territorial Tennis Associations to increase visibility and engagement.
Support internal teams with communications strategy and positioning of programs.
Strengthen relationships with corporate partners through regular communications touchpoints.
Lead communications efforts supporting infrastructure growth and access to tennis facilities.
Promote inclusive, safe, and equitable tennis environments across Canada.
Support the advancement of Tennis Canada’s Gender Equity initiatives.
Raise awareness of national tennis development programs and successes.
National Bank Open presented by Rogers

Lead communications and media relations strategy for the Toronto tournament.
Drive media coverage to support ticket sales and event visibility.
Manage media accreditation and Media Centre operations.
Build relationships with domestic and international media.
Plan and execute PR events and on-site media activities.
Develop press materials including releases, advisories, and media pitches.
Support content creation for tournament digital platforms.
Review and approve public-facing communications.
WHO YOU ARE

Diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Sports Management, Journalism, or related field.
6–7 years of relevant experience, ideally in sports or a national sport organization.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Highly organized with strong project and priority management skills.
Experience with media monitoring tools. (Meltwater, Cision, or similar)
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans.
Knowledge of tennis and/or sports industry is an asset.
