Manager - Bio Medical Engineering
Job Description
1) You shall report to the Medical Director.
· Equipment Management and Maintenance
1) Overseeing the installation, calibration, and commissioning of medical equipment, including advanced diagnostic machines (e.g., MRI, CT scanners), surgical instruments, ventilators, and monitoring devices.
2) Performing regular preventive maintenance and troubleshooting issues to ensure equipment is functioning at optimal levels and reducing downtime.
3) Managing in-house repairs or coordinating with vendors and manufacturers for repairs and servicing as needed. Document all repair actions and maintain log register.
· Equipment Safety and Compliance
1) Ensuring that all medical equipment meets local and international regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, CE, ISO), and maintaining documentation to comply with audits and inspections.
2) Conducting routine safety tests on medical devices to protect both patients and healthcare providers from potential hazards. Strictly follow the safety procedures of the Hospital.
3) Evaluating the risks associated with medical devices and developing strategies to mitigate potential malfunctions or accidents.
· Equipment Procurement and Budgeting
1) Researching and selecting vendors for the purchase of new equipment. This includes reviewing product specifications, performance, and service contracts to ensure value for money.
2) Working with the hospital's finance and procurement teams to budget for new equipment purchases, upgrades, and annual maintenance contracts.
3) Planning for the lifecycle of equipment, including anticipating future needs, technology upgrades, and the replacement of outdated equipment.
· Technology Integration and Innovation
1) Ensuring that biomedical equipment integrates seamlessly with hospital information systems (HIS), electronic health records (EHR), and other technologies, enabling accurate data transfer and patient monitoring.
2) Identifying and implementing new technologies that improve patient care, optimize hospital workflows, and enhance efficiency.
3) Working closely with the IT department to ensure the smooth integration of medical devices with the hospital’s digital infrastructure, as well as collaborating with clinical staff to understand their technological needs.
· Research and Development (R&D)
1) Assessing new biomedical technologies and conducting research to determine their suitability for clinical applications within the hospital.
2) Leading or participating in the design and development of custom medical devices or modifications to existing ones to meet specific hospital requirements.
3) Assisting with the evaluation of new medical equipment during clinical trials to assess their impact on patient outcomes and hospital operations.
· Staff Training and Support
1) Organizing and conducting training sessions for clinical staff (doctors, nurses, and technicians) on the correct use and maintenance of medical equipment.
2) Providing ongoing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to ensure that clinical staff can efficiently use biomedical equipment in patient care.
3) Give orientation to patient and relatives about services, facilities, policy rules and regulations of the hospital and Patients’ Rights and Responsibilities.
4) Contribute equitably in the maintenance of cleanliness of the Hospital.
· Data Management and Documentation
1) Maintaining accurate records of all medical equipment, including specifications, maintenance history, calibration certificates, and compliance documents.
2) Preparing reports on equipment performance, incidents, and maintenance schedules to inform hospital management and guide decision-making.
3) Strictly avoid wastage of stationery in the Department.
4) All files and registers are to be maintained as per policy on daily basis.
· Team Leadership and Collaboration
1) Leading a team of biomedical engineers, technicians, and support staff, delegating tasks, and ensuring efficient workflow.
2) Working with clinical, administrative, and IT teams to address equipment-related issues and ensure that patient care is supported by reliable technology.
3) Evaluating processes and protocols to continuously improve the efficiency and reliability of the biomedical engineering department.
· Project Management
1) Overseeing large-scale projects involving the acquisition, installation, and integration of new technology, such as outfitting new operating rooms or diagnostic facilities.
2) Managing project timelines, ensuring that all phases from procurement to installation are completed efficiently and on schedule.
· Innovation and Adaptation to Emerging Trends
1) Staying informed about emerging biomedical technologies, trends, and regulatory changes, and applying this knowledge to enhance hospital operations.
2) Implementing sustainable practices in equipment management, such as energy-efficient technologies or reducing electronic waste.
· Communication
1) Clear and comprehensive in transferring and sharing the information (written & oral) to Superiors and Colleagues
2) Maintain good interpersonal relationship with patients, their relatives and all hospital staff.
· Safety Precautions
1) Create safe work environment.
Inform any breakage or damage caused to the properties of the hospital.
Pay: Up to ₹75,000.00 per month
