Reports to: Director of Operations/Maintenance Manager

Type: Full-time (40 hours/week), permanent

Status: Unionized; UNIFOR local 4620

Wage: $22.72 - $23.10/hour with shift premiums of $2.35/hour for shifts between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and weekends, plus time and a half for shifts worked on holidays.

Job Summary: As a Maintenance Worker, you play a vital role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of the facility. This position involves performing routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and systems, as well as conducting preventative maintenance to avoid disruptions.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety of residents, staff, and visitors at all times.
Monitor, evaluate, and maintain the facility, grounds, and equipment to ensure proper functioning, addressing repairs and replacements as needed.
Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance activities.
Oversee the work of external contractors when required.
Implement and promote the fire safety program, including fire panels, extinguishers, and emergency lighting, to uphold occupational safety standards.
Attend maintenance meetings and participate in emergency management exercises, staff meetings, WHMIS, and fire safety initiatives.
Attend and actively participate in Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) Committee meetings to discuss workplace safety, review incidents, and contribute to health and safety initiatives.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations/Maintenance Manager.
Requirements:

Completion of post-secondary education in a related trade or field, or equivalent experience.
Highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to maintaining high standards of care and service.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a rapidly changing work environment.
Adaptability to changing workplace technologies and a commitment to continuous learning.
Team player with a collaborative approach to work.
Valid driver's license required.
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
A clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is required as a condition of employment.
A functional assessment is also required as a condition of employment to confirm your ability to meet the physical demands of the job. This will be arranged for you at a later date.
Working Conditions:

Ability to continuously walk, stand, and bend.
Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work outdoors.
