The University of California, Santa Cruz is seeking a highly skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our Physical Planning, Development & Operations department. This role involves inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment in various buildings across campus.
Main Responsibilities:
• Inspect and maintain heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic devices
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating equipment, to ensure optimal performance
• Troubleshoot and repair complex HVAC issues, working with blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electronic schematics
• Install new HVAC equipment, ensuring proper operation and efficiency
• Collaborate with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives
Requirements:
• 2+ years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair
• Knowledge of national, state, and local codes and safety standards
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations
• Good oral communication and interpersonal skills, sufficient to interact with members of the campus community
