The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Central East Correctional Centre, seeks a highly skilled and knowledgeable trades professional to provide general maintenance in a number of skilled trades for the institution.
This position supervises offender helpers. Salary note for Custodial Responsibility Allowance (K-1) applies.
About the job
In this role, you will:
Operate, troubleshoot, replace, repair and maintain heating, ventilation and fire systems, and electro-mechanical devices and subsystems
Check the boiler room and refrigeration system, and conduct chemical tests
Operate and maintain pumps, burners, water softeners, kitchen items and grounds equipment
Replace and clean air and roll media filters; lubricate and tighten belts when necessary
Repair and maintain tubular steel furniture, water tanks, power plant equipment, security screens, steel structures, and security and non-security locks
Perform emergency repairs, and assist other trades professionals as required
Complete and maintain accurate tracking logs and records
Provide supervision and instructions to offender helpers
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
You are certified in one of the skilled trades as recognized by the Ontario Government and/or you possess equivalent experience.
You have a current First Aid and Heart
