Mainframe Business Analyst (BA)
Job Title: Mainframe Business Analyst
Experience: 5–7years
Location: Hybrid
Employment Type: 12+ Months
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Business Analyst to bridge business needs and technical solutions for enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with IBM mainframe systems, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and support application enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, testers, and project managers.
Prepare Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Documents (FRD), and user stories.
Perform impact analysis for new enhancements and production changes.
Support requirements clarification during development and testing.
Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and obtain business sign-off.
Analyze existing mainframe applications and recommend process improvements.
Participate in defect triage and production support activities.
Ensure compliance with organizational standards and documentation practices.
Required Skills
Strong experience as a Business Analyst in Mainframe environments.
Knowledge of IBM Mainframe technologies including:
COBOL
JCL
VSAM
DB2
CICS
IMS (preferred)
Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Ability to create BRDs, FRDs, process flows, and data mapping documents.
Experience in requirement elicitation, gap analysis, and impact analysis.
Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Banking, Insurance,
Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, ALM, or Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of API integration and modernization initiatives involving mainframe applications.
CBAP, CCBA, or Agile BA certification is a plus.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
Pay: $50.00-$55.00 per hour
Experience:
Banking/Financial: 3 years (preferred)
Mainframe: 4 years (preferred)
Business Analyst: 6 years (preferred)
