Job Summary
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Machine Shop Helper, where your enthusiasm and mechanical aptitude will contribute to precision machining and fabrication processes. In this role, you will assist skilled machinists and operators by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring smooth workflow on the shop floor. Duties
Assist machinists with setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines, including CNC milling machines, lathes, and CNC programming tools
Prepare raw materials by measuring, cutting, and organizing stock using hand tools and basic shop math
Support fabrication tasks such as operating press brake machines, stamping presses, and other industrial equipment
Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, production documents, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machining
Handle materials safely using forklifts and other materials handling equipment while adhering to safety standards in production
Perform dimensional measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments to verify part accuracy
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including packaging finished products and preparing components for assembly or shipping
Experience
Prior experience working in a manufacturing or factory environment is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
Familiarity with shop tools such as hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and basic math skills necessary for precise measurements
Basic understanding of mechanical blueprint reading and interpretation of technical drawings
Knowledge of CNC machining processes including CNC programming or CAM programming is a plus
Experience with industrial equipment troubleshooting and factory safety standards is beneficial
Ability to operate forklifts safely with certification preferred; familiarity with materials handling procedures is advantageous
Strong mechanical knowledge combined with a proactive approach to learning new skills in machining and fabrication
