If you're adding text to the screen, it needs to be correct

Comfortable with Canva or an equivalent for graphics/icons
Reliable communication and a consistent working rhythm

B-roll integration — I film most of my own B-roll, but I'd like you to source stock or supplementary footage when a moment needs it
Job description
Long-Term Video Editor for Wellness YouTube Channel (Descript) — 2–4 Videos/Month

I'm looking for a video editor to join me long-term on my YouTube channel, Kayzen Wellness. I make long-form wellness content and I'm looking for someone to take my editing from solid to genuinely elevated.

About the work

- 2–4 long-form videos per month, typically 8–15 minutes (occasionally up to 20–25)

- Editing in Descript (this is my primary tool and my preference)

- Access to Canva or similar for visuals, icons, and graphic elements

- Turnaround is flexible — I care more about quality and consistency than speed

What I'm looking for in the edit

I want an edit that keeps retention high without feeling over-produced or gimmicky. Specifically:

Tight, intentional pacing — cutting dead air, filler, and rambling

Subtle sound design — SFX used with restraint, not layered on everything

Light motion graphics and visual effects — text callouts, icons, simple animations that support the point being made

B-roll integration — I film most of my own B-roll, but I'd like you to source stock or supplementary footage when a moment needs it

Style reference

My north star is the clean, considered editing style of Ali Abdaal, Natacha Oceane, and Jenn Im. Please watch a few of my existing videos before applying — I want the edit to stay on-brand and recognizably mine, just more advanced. This isn't a rebrand; it's a level-up.

Requirements

Fluent written and spoken English. This is non-negotiable. I've worked with editors before where I had to proofread on-screen text for spelling errors, and I'm not doing that again. If you're adding text to the screen, it needs to be correct.

Proficiency in Descript (please be specific about your experience with it)

Comfortable with Canva or an equivalent for graphics/icons

Reliable communication and a consistent working rhythm

How I like to work

I'm looking for a real collaborator, not a one-off hire. I'll give clear briefs and timely feedback, and I'd love someone who brings their own ideas about what would make a video land better. If something isn't working, I'd rather you tell me. I value clear, direct communication and people who flag issues early rather than going quiet.

Compensation

My preference is a monthly retainer for a set number of videos, but I'm open to discussing other structures if you have a setup that works better for you. Let me know what you'd propose.

To apply

Please include:

- 2–3 relevant samples — ideally long-form, talking-head or lifestyle/wellness content. I care more about seeing the right kind of work than a big reel.

- Start your application with the word "Kayzen" so I know you've read this.

Looking forward to finding someone to build with over the long haul.
