Full job description
By joining our team as a Logistics Operator, your responsibilities will include processing shipments and all related activities for an assigned base of customers, including quoting, operational execution and billing. We are looking for someone with the eagerness to working closely with customers, carrier partners, internal and external stakeholders. The position entails, but not limited to, the below functions:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to requests of new and existing clients.
Obtain rates from airlines, shipping lines, transport carriers and overseas offices.
Prepare quotations for clients, potential clients, overseas and interstate offices.
Formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clients.
Import and Export freight forwarding operational execution, including Surface Transportation via Rail, Road and domestic Air.
Liaise with Customs and Operational team members for efficient and effective consignment execution.
Track shipments and provide status reports to clients and/or overseas offices.
Attend project cargo load outs / discharges and supervise heavy lift operations and deliveries, as required.
Job file financial close out and invoicing.
Seek the most profitable mode of shipment yet meet client’s requirement for the movement of freight.
Other duties as assigned.

Position may require extended periods of sitting, computer use, standing and walking. Some light lifting may be required in some instances.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES

While not all mandatory, the below skills will be looked at favourably when deciding on the correct fit applicant for our team.

Demonstrated experience in Import, Export and Surface Transportation.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate (verbally and intuitively) effectively with both clients and internal personnel.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be career-oriented, hard-working, quick learner and have excellent recall for past events/situations/numbers.
High level of experience in MS office suite.
Able to be proactive in providing quality client service and to handle pressure and responsibility in a fast-paced environment, in a timely and effective manner.
Able to multitask and prioritise workload proactively and independently.
Developing and implementing logistics strategies to optimize operations and meet customer requirements efficiently.
Ensuring compliance with local and international regulations (inbound and outbound).
Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and improve logistics performance.
Experience
Preferred
5 - 10 years: Minimum 5 years industry experience
Education
Required
High School or better
