Litigation Associate – Recovery Services

Our Client
Our client is a respected law firm recognized for their excellence in client service, legal innovation, and inclusive workplace culture. With a longstanding presence and deep expertise in litigation, business law, and regulatory matters, they represent a wide range of institutional clients. Their GTA office is growing, and they are currently seeking a Litigation Associate to join their Recovery Services group.
The Role
As a Litigation Associate within the Recovery Services group, you will support a high-volume practice focused on commercial litigation, collections, and recovery-related matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level associate with strong litigation skills who enjoys a fast-paced, structured environment with opportunities to develop client relationships and appear in court regularly.
Key responsibilities include:
• Managing a varied caseload of collection, enforcement, and recovery litigation matters
• Preparing and reviewing pleadings, motion materials, affidavits, and correspondence
• Conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda
• Representing clients in court appearances and settlement conferences
• Managing client communication and file strategy from intake through to resolution
• Participating in negotiation and alternative dispute resolution processes
• Collaborating with senior lawyers and legal support staff to ensure efficient case progression
Qualifications
• Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• 1–4 years of litigation experience, ideally with exposure to recovery services, creditor remedies, or commercial litigation
• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and written communication skills
• Comfortable attending court and managing a high-volume practice
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
• Client-focused with a professional and solutions-oriented approach
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficient with legal research tools and document management systems
