Exciting opportunity to join one of Melbourne's largest municipalities.

A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.

Brimbank Libraries

Brimbank Libraries is a dynamic public library service in Melbourne’s western suburbs delivering a range of services and programs to the community to support lifelong learning, literacy and social connection.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic library professional to work as part of a team, combining the cataloguing and maintenance of library collections with reader development and promotions.

Applications from candidates with experience in cataloguing and working with library collections are welcomed. Experience in providing support services to Libraries, particularly around the use of shelf ready suppliers is an advantage.


This role is responsible for:

Liaising with suppliers, addressing issues around order management, MARC records, order receipts and invoices, maintenance of Library Standing Orders, and timely delivery of library materials and other relevant matters.
Original cataloguing of library resources as required
Maintaining library digital collections to meet community interests and demand

Excellent IT, online acquisitions and cataloguing skills including knowledge and experience of working in an automated cataloguing environment
Ability to work with budgets including; ordering to set criteria goals, managing monthly spend
Effective communication skills with all stakeholders; including library council staff, community members and supply chain partners.
Excellent attention to detail and skills in managing time, planning and prioritizing the tasks required of the position
Ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
An ability to multi-task and think creatively, following established documentation and processes.
Hours are spread across the week and include a late shift to 8pm. Additional Sunday shifts are available as overtime.

Staff are required to work across any of the library locations based at Deer Park, Keilor, St Albans, Sunshine and Sydenham.

All successful candidates must have a working with Children Check and undertake a Police check.
