What we offer

Buddle Findlay is a full-service commercial law firm with three offices, 45 partners and over 300 people nationally. Our culture and focus on collaboration are the foundation of who we are and in joining us, you will feel valued, challenged, connected, and supported.

We have a great opportunity for a legal secretary/coordinator to join our Auckland office, primarily supporting our Resource Management (RMA) and Property teams, as well as the wider secretarial team as needed. We're looking for someone who likes the idea of a role with plenty of variety, the opportunity to get stuck in and who thrives on managing competing demands. If you have experience as a secretary, administrator or team coordinator, or are looking to take a step up in your career, we'd love to hear from you.

We have some flexibility due to existing team structure, and so the role can be either 4 or 5 days per week. We offer a competitive salary and the opportunity to grow your career in a professional and friendly environment. Our generous benefits aim to enable you to be the best you can be and include health insurance, training and development courses, wellbeing programmes, and extra leave days.

The opportunity

You will be part of the wider secretarial team, primarily supporting two of our Auckland based legal teams – the structure of this role means no two days will be the same! Our RMA team works across all aspects of resource management and environmental issues ranging from large infrastructure projects, national and local policy developments and Maori law matters. Our Property team advises on a wide range of matters including acquisitions, disposals, leases, licencing, projects, the Public Works Act 1+81 and Maori law matters including Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1++3 and the protocols associated with tikanga Maori

In General, You Could Expect To Provide Support With

a range of legal documents – ADLS forms, PDF management, pleadings and electronic casebooks or bundles
billing
travel and event booking and coordination
diary management
event organisation
team coordination
enabling our fee earners to succeed in their roles – whatever this may look like!

What matters to us

We value people who bring a different perspective, who are passionate, curious and innovative. To be successful in this role you will have the confidence to think on your feet, use your initiative and consistently work to a high standard.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has

A naturally proactive, solution-focused approach, who shows initiative and communicates effectively
3 or more years' experience that may include (but not limited to) administrative roles within legal, professional services or corporate environments
The ability to think on your feet and remain calm under pressure
Proficiency with MS Office suite of products (including formatting) and the ability to pick up tech skills fast – you'll also be using Adobe Acrobat PDF reader and 3e financial management system in your day to day
Strong attention to detail and strives for high standards in everything they do
A knack for identifying and creating efficiencies
