Good people. Good work. Great opportunities.

McCullough Robertson is a commercially focused firm, working with high-calibre national and international clients. We work on big matters in small teams, approaching each day with dedication and professionalism.

We provide exceptional opportunities for our employees to perform, grow and succeed through extensive training and career development. Our teams work together and support one another to achieve individual, team and firm-wide goals.

Backed by a national team of over 400 staff located in Brisbane and Sydney, McCullough Robertson is a big firm, without the attitude.

The Role

Working as the firm’s Legal Automation Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining legal precedents, templates and applications aimed at optimising and enhancing workflow efficiency. Collaborating closely with legal teams and business support services, you will also assist in maintaining the accuracy, quality, and consistency of legal documentation and processes.

This role sits within the broader Knowledge and Legal Excellence team and offers a diverse and engaging scope of work, spanning document automation, legal technology implementation, workflow optimisation, training delivery, and innovation projects.

Key duties will include:

Developing, testing and maintaining automated precedents, templates, and legal documents using tools such as Office 365, I-Deal Docs, Docudraft, and generative AI;
Processing and updating legal precedents, templates, and other knowledge resources to ensure accuracy and compliance;
Formatting and proofreading documents to ensure consistency with firm’s style and quality standards;
Supporting the implementation and configuration of legal technology solutions to enhance workflows and efficiency;
Collaborating across teams to develop and integrate new tools, including generative AI, custom-built applications, systems integrations and digital execution platforms;
Providing guidance and troubleshooting support for document automation tools, legal precedents, templates and style-related inquiries;
Developing and delivering training to support the effective use of precedents, templates, and legal technology; and
Contributing to firm-wide digital transformation initiatives and innovation projects.
Experience

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to prioritise tasks, solve problems logically and creatively, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

An understanding of document automation concepts and tools such as I-Deal Docs, VBA, and Docudraft will be highly regarded, as will knowledge of generative AI and its emerging applications within the legal sector. Additionally, a willingness to learn new systems and adapt to evolving technologies is paramount.

Furthermore, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels. You will be a collaborative team player, with a natural ability to contribute to shared projects, communicate openly, and support knowledge sharing within the team. This role requires a flexible and proactive attitude, with a readiness to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.

Benefits

At McCullough Robertson, we encourage a balanced work environment. Our teams enjoy having the opportunity to work in a supportive environment while having fun and achieving results.

We offer the following benefits for our employees:

Dedicated Diversity Committee with an innovative program focusing on all areas of diversity and inclusion;
Attractive further education program and supportive learning and development opportunities throughout your whole career;
Mentoring and sponsorship opportunities as well as coaching and leadership support;
Holistic Health and Wellbeing program including subsidised gym membership and active social and sporting committees; and
In-house barista and end-of-trip facilities.
